Faculty Mentor Program

Juniors and seniors, use the Faculty Mentor Program to gain valuable research experience and preparation for graduate or professional school — and receive credit.

How it works:

Eligible students are assigned to work as research assistants to UCSD faculty members for at least 10 hours per week for two quarters. Faculty mentors design and supervise research projects in conjunction with your research interests. You will:

  • Learn how to write a research proposal and paper
  • Receive graduate school and fellowship information
  • Present your research at the annual Faculty Mentor Program Research Symposium at the end of the academic year
  • Receive 4 units of Independent Study credit each quarter

Who is eligible:

The Faculty Mentor Program is open to all juniors and seniors with a GPA of 2.7 or higher who have the desire to prepare for graduate or professional school.
