Included below is the current schedule of workshops and classes offered within the program. These offerings will change from quarter to quarter, allowing participants to try something new.
Many of the workshops and classes included within the program are free to attend; however, several offerings may include a minimal fee. All fees are noted within descriptions where applicable. Additionally, several workshops and classes may require pre-registration; registration information will be included where applicable.
Each workshop/ class counts towards one requirement field ONLY and all participants must complete an evaluation form following each workshop/ class.

How do you tell people in your life that you love and appreciate them? Participants will learn about the different styles for giving and receiving love, learn about cultural differences in expressing love and appreciation, identify their own primary ‘love language’, and gain insight into the ‘love languages of parents, friends and partners.
From learning about their True Colors, students can become more self-aware of their leadership and work styles. Students will be able to identify and explore ways they can apply True Colors to improve their working relationships with fellow peers, supervisors, friends, and family.
Learn how to increase your internal awareness and manage stress through Biofeedback. To receive full credit for this workshop, all participants must submit both an evaluation form and a typed, double-spaced, one-page paper reflecting on the assessment they receive, including their thoughts on what they learned (i.e. ways they can improve, what methods they are already employing, and what plans they may have to make a change). Dr. Tiffany O’Meara uses a “cognitive-behavioral” approach to understanding social anxiety and building social confidence. In this interactive session, you will identify thought and behavior patterns that keep you from reaching your personal and career goals, and you will leave with tools to help reduce anxiety and increase confidence.

Cigarette butts are consistently the number one item picked up from clean-ups and the cost to clean them up comes directly from college tuition and fee costs! These butts are an environmental burden, disgusting, and most importantly damaging to the health of people and animal life. Join us for our first Kicking Butts Off Campus Clean-Up event and take part in helping us make our campus beautiful!
Our story follows Jeb Berrier, an average American guy—admittedly not a 'tree hugger'— who makes a pledge to stop using plastic bags. This simple action gets Jeb thinking about all kinds of plastic. He embarks on a global tour to unravel the complexities of our plastic world. At the screening, we’ll have a raffle of reusable and eco-conscious items! Come early, seating is limited. Before and after the screening, San Diego Coastkeeper will provide information about their organization and popular volunteer activities.
Hosted by San Diego Coastkeeper, the UCSD community is invited to help maintain the health of their campus and watershed, which drains to La Jolla Shores, a state designated Area of Special Biological Significance. KIND Snacks will be providing snacks to those who come out to help
Roger’s Community Garden will be holding special volunteer hours where you can come work on a unifying project that will contribute to the garden's mission to green up the land without using more water. Join Winona LaDuke, Van Jones, and Leslie Lewis for a lecture on redefining sustainability as the movement that addresses both environmental destruction and social inequality. Be a part of the discussion that stresses the importance of committing to zero injustice in order to move towards a healthier planet.
Succulents and cactus come from a diverse biosphere containing gorgeous variety in color and shapes, meaning there is one that is right for everyone. This workshop will explore the different varieties of succulents and how their specific needs for things like light and water can be used to help determine what works best for you. We’ll show you how to care for your succulent and how to propagate and multiply either your personal succulent collection or another collector's in order to expand your own! Participants get their free choice of cutting to start their collection! Presented by Roger’s Community Garden.
This comprehensive introduction to surfing will teach you the fundamental skills of the sport, including ocean conditions, safety and proper etiquette. Led by an attorney and fellow introvert: brainstorm ways that you can engage with your community and meet new people (i.e. “network”) in ways that are non-threatening and comfortable for you. During the workshop, each person will be asked to complete a Networking Planning Worksheet to identify new social networks, as well as come up with strategies when in those cringeworthy, unfamiliar large group situations.
