How to Apply

The online applications for the OASIS transition programs are now available (apply May 1 through June 17) . Follow the instructions below.

2017 deadlines and important notes:

    • If you are a freshman, we encourage you to apply to both of our transitions programs. Read through all of these instructions before applying for any of our OASIS Transition Programs. Please note that the applications to both programs are very similar, therefore be sure to save your essay responses on a word document so you can copy and paste for both.
    • You may use the links below to apply to each program.  After you've submitted your application, you won't be able to log in to apply to additional programs, so consider your options carefully.
    • Be sure to include your essay responses. Incomplete applications will not be accepted!
    • If you are applying to TRIO SSSP don't forget to mail or fax your income verification (1040 tax forms).
    • Application deadlines are 11:59 p.m. (PST):
      • Freshmen: Saturday, June 17, 2017
      • Transfers: Wednesday, July 5, 2017
    • You'll be notified about acceptance beginning:
      • Summer Bridge: Wednesday, July 5, 2017
      • TRIO Freshmen: Wednesday, July 5, 2017
      • TRIO Transfers: Friday, July 14, 2017

Summer Bridge

TRIO SSSP

  1. Click on the following link: summersuccessprograms.ucsd.edu
  2. Sign on as a Student SSO using your: Single Sign-On User ID/PID and password.
  3. Once you log in, you will be directed to the Common Application Dashboard, where you will see a list of Summer Success Programs that are available to you.
  4. Click on Summer Bridge to begin the application process.
  5. You may use the common application to apply to multiple programs, but you can only submit your application once! After you've submitted your application, you won't be able to log in to apply to additional programs, so consider all your options carefully if you plan to apply for multiple summer success programs.
  6. You must completely answer every question to be eligible (personal info and essays).

  3. Once you log in, you will be directed to the Application Dashboard, where you will see the TRIO SSSP Application button. 
  4. Once you have successfully submitted your application, you will not be able to log back in to make changes.
  5.  You must completely answer every question to be eligible (personal info and essays).

Essays

We suggest you write your responses to the following questions before you begin your application, then cut and paste your responses into the spaces provided in the application. Double check the formatting of your essays when entering into the application.

Be sure to save a copy of your essays for your records.

Please provide responses to all 4 questions below. Question 1a is specific to Summer Bridge application only. Limit your responses to 250 words per question:

  1. 1a) Are you interested in taking a math course (i.e. pre-calculus or calculus) for Summer Bridge (Yes or No)? 1b) Discuss a difficult, challenging situation (e.g., family, academic, social, personal, financial, etc.) you faced, how it affected you, and how you responded to the situation.

  2. OASIS Programs reflect UC San Diego's mission to develop students who have a commitment to social justice and community involvement. Therefore, our summer programs will feature the study and/or discussion of issues such as racism, social class disparities, poverty, the inequality of schools, etc. Describe an experience you have had that demonstrates your willingness to engage with such issues. Explain how the experience changed your way of thinking or challenged you.

  3. Describe how your cultural background can be an asset AND a challenge to you while attending UC San Diego. Explain how you can contribute to the diversity and learning among UC San Diego students.

  4. Our programs require a high level of commitment and participation during the summer AND academic year. Share one example of a time when you committed to participating in a diverse program or organization. Describe the challenges you faced to stay involved and how you balanced that with other commitments. (e.g., family, school, work, social life, etc.)
