Get Help

If you are a survivor of sexual violence, relationship violence and/or stalking, know that what happened to you was not your fault. You may be feeling overwhelmed, confused or angry. Remember that CARE at SARC is here to help you consider your next steps.

Your health and safety is important and is the number one priority at the moment. If you are in immediate danger or require medical attention, please call 911 to contact the police or emergency medical services.

If you are a friend, partner, staff, faculty, or colleague looking to support a survivor, we are here to support you as well. We can discuss how to best support the survivor in life and help get you connected to resources for yourself as well as discuss any relevant resources.

We are here to support you.

For UC San Diego students, staff and faculty, CARE at the Sexual Assault Resource Center can offer confidential support, and a safe place to talk with you. We are also here to talk about reporting rights, options and resources that are available to survivors.

During Business Hours

  • Contact our confidential CARE advocates at (858) 534-5793 during business hours Monday–Friday, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm.
  • Make an appointment by emailing careadvocate@ucsd.edu.

Non-Business Hours, Weekends, Holidays Response

To reach CARE during non-business hours and on weekends for support, please call 858-534-5793. Confidential counselors are available to answer calls and provide support and information.

  • A counselor will answer and will ask for the caller's name and phone number. You may provide them with any name you are comfortable giving.
  • If you would prefer to remain anonymous, you have that option but it may impact the types of services we are able to provide.
  • You may have someone you trust call for you if you feel uncomfortable calling yourself

The window to obtain a sexual assault forensic exam is about five days. If a sexual assault or relationship violence injury happened recently we encourage you to get in touch with us as soon as possible to discuss access to a forensic exam. A CARE Advocate can provide support by helping you review your rights and options in regards to medical care, reporting options, and provide guidance on how to access a free forensic medical exam.

If an incident took place more than five days ago, we can still support. Please don’t hesitate to contact our office to discuss support regardless of when the incident occurred.
