Appendix C: Registered Student Organizations and College Organizations

I.  REGISTERED STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS 

Definition:  A registered student organization is a group of four or more currently enrolled students who have registered with the Undergraduate Affairs Student Government/Student Organizations' Support Services Office. 

Categories of registered student organizations are:

A. 

Associated Students and Graduate Student Association 

Authorized student governments.

B. 

Co-ops/Enterprises

Retail student organizations.

C. 

Recreational Clubs

Physical recreation clubs assigned to the Physical Education Department. Membership is open to staff, faculty, spouses of staff and faculty, alumni, and friends of the University.

D. 

Student Political Organizations

Refer to Section 15.11.13.15

E. 

Student Religious Organizations

Refer to Section 15.11.13.15

F. 

Fraternity and Sorority

A student organization formed chiefly to promote friendship and welfare among the members and usually have secret rites and a name consisting of Greek letters.

G. 

Other Academic

Other groups of four or more students who register with the Student Organizations Advisor.

II. COLLEGE ORGANIZATIONS

Definition: A "college organization" is a college based group of students with a common interest (e.g. based on domicile, service, publications and productions, or programs and activities) which is consistent with the aims and goals of the college. College organization membership may also include faculty and staff members from the college. These groups are recognized by the Dean and/or the Provost of their respective college, but they are not required to register with the Student Government/Student Organizations Advisor's Support Services Office.
