Student Success Coach for: Warren College

Hometown: Los Angeles, California

What I wish I had known when I was in college: I wish that I would have known that college isn’t just about attending more classes and learning a specific subject but so much more. It’s about learning how to work with people, growing in all aspects, and you can only do that by getting involved early. Getting involved on campus turned my dull college experience into an amazing one.

What does being first-generation mean to me? To me this means giving back to my community and paving the way for my family. It is a challenge, privilege, struggle, and a blessing all in one. One second, this identity is my greatest challenge and the next, my greatest motivator. This identity fills me with a sense of purpose as I advance and always reminds me of where I came from.

Top goals for the year:

1.    Become a mentor and support system for the students I interact with at UCSD.

2.    Travel, Travel, Travel!

3.    Try new outdoor activities.
