Alternative Breaks

Applications due Fall Quarter each year

Alternative Breaks is a student organization at UC San Diego working on social justice issues in an effort to instill positive change in our communities. This is done through service learning trips that educate, assist, empower and impact lives. The program is dedicated to creating globally conscious active citizens who commit to lifelong service. 

EnVision Arts and Engineering Maker Studio

EnVision is an experiential teaching facility where both engineering and visual arts students are empowered to think, design, make, tinker, break and build again.

Rady StartR Accelerator

Only for Rady students and alumni

Rady's StartR is a nonprofit accelerator for Rady School of Management students and alumni. StartR accelerates ventures of all kinds – from hardware-driven consumer products to mobile health software and nonprofit social ventures.

Rady Lab to Market Workshop

Only for Rady MBA students

Lab to Market Workshop is a capstone project sequence in the Rady School of Management MBA program. Recent/ current projects include projects from UCSD’s Global Public Health program, as well as sustainable and community-based agriculture.

Current student projects is a database of social innovation initiatives by UC San Diego students. The database is updated quarterly.

Grameen Bank Student Internship Program

The Grameen NGO Undergraduate and Graduate Internship Program is offering internships to graduate and undergraduate students to work on projects at the Grameen Bank and Grameen Trust. The internship will provide valuable hands-on experience in microfinance, poverty reduction and development.In the past, interns have accomplished critical tasks, including:

  • Adapting the microfinance model to address the poorest sector of society, beggars.
  • A financial audit of the Grameen Bank.
  • A feasibility study of producing solar panels in Bangladesh.
