California State Veterans Benefits

Learn about California state education benefits for eligible veterans and their families.

California offers one state benefits program, the College Fee Waiver.

UCSD does not determine your eligibility for the Cal Vet College Fee Waiver. Apply through your local California county Veterans Service Office. It will guide you through the process and notify UCSD of your eligibility.

California College Fee Waiver

What it is:

The California College Fee Waiver program provides UC systemwide fee waivers for eligible spouses and children of deceased or disabled veterans.

How to apply:

Download the application from the California Association of County Veterans Service Officers (CACVSO).
Submit the application and all required supporting documents to your county Veterans Service Office (VSO).
Most county offices send a copy of your authorization letter directly to UCSD, or you can mail or fax your authorization letter to UCSD's Registrar's Office: 9500 Gilman Drive, Mail Code 0022, La Jolla, CA 92093-0022; fax (858) 534-5723.
Your education and registration fees are waived upon receipt of the authorization letter.
Make sure you pay all other fees directly or your classes will be canceled.
