How to Change a Grading Option or Number of Units per Class (Undergraduates)

For undergraduates: Find out how to change the grading option or number of units for variable credit courses.

If you are enrolled in over 22 units, use TEA to request a change in grading option or number of units.

Facts about changes:

• Effective Winter 2023: The last day to change a grading option or number of units is the Friday of Week 6 of classes.

Changing your grading option:

Before the quarter begins and through Week 6

• Log onto Triton Student System (TSS) and search for your booked courses using the My Modules.
• On your list of booked classes, select the course on which you want to change the grading option..
  • To change a grading option, locate the grading option dropdown arrow and click the arrow to open it.
  • Select your new grading option by clicking the radio button next to the applicable option.
  • Click Book/Save to save the change. (Note: Some classes do not have variable units. If the option is available, a drop-down menu will appear on the Change screen.)
• Make sure you see a confirmation message after you make the change.
• Print the confirmation for your records.
