Smart Lockers at The Trove 

Logistics Student Mail has implemented contactless smart lockers at The Trove parcel center located on the corner of Library Walk and Geisel Library. Students who pick up their packages at this location are the first to participate in our smart locker pilot program. Our priority is to enhance the student experience, one step at a time, by catapulting our operation into the next generation of logistics. We are excited to share this experience with YOU!

How will this new locker system benefit me?

This new locker system is awesome in more ways than one!  The locker system is contactless and does not require a person-to-person interaction, which helps limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Additionally, once the locker process is flowing smoothly, The Trove parcel center hours will extend to Price Center hours (start date TBD). That means students will have more control over when they pick up their packages and not have to wait in long lines! 

How do I use the new locker system?

Using the locker system is as easy as 1-2-3!  Check out this quick guide here. We recommend swiping your Campus Card to retrieve packages, but you can also use your emailed QR code. The last option is to manually enter a pin code on the kiosk screen, but it is not recommended for COVID-19 safety reasons.

Is the locker system ADA compliant?

Yes! Give Student Mail a heads up that you request accommodations by submitting a case to Services & Support. We will place your packages in a locker bank designated for ADA use only!  The kiosk itself also has audio prompts available; just plug in your headphones to hear instructions for use.

Why is my QR code not scanning?

We recommend swiping your Campus Card to retrieve packages, but if you’d like to use your QR code make sure your phone is in Light Mode and the brightness is turned up.

Help, I want to use my QR code, but I can’t find it!

Depending on your phone, the QR code may be added as an attachment to your email notification versus embedded in the email itself. If you still can’t find your QR code you can always swipe your Campus Card (preferred)!

Are we going to get more locker banks elsewhere on campus?

Yes! Our goal is to expand the locker program to other strategic locations on campus. The second phase of locker implementation is currently slated for Fall 2021 at the ERC & Seventh college region of campus.  Future phases will target the Revelle & Eighth college region and graduate housing.

Parcel Center Locations

Logistics Student Mail has four locations on campus for students to pick up package deliveries safely and easily! Packages will be automatically routed to whichever location is closest to the student's place of residence. 

  • Revelle College: Argo Hall - Multipurpose Room, Room 118 (map). Hours: Weekdays, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • The Trove: Price Center, Upper Level, along Library Walk near the Sun God Lounge (map). Hours: Weekdays, 9 a.m.– 3 p.m.
  • Seventh College: Building 2, Ground Floor Entrance (map). Hours: Weekdays, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Eleanor Roosevelt College: ERC Student Activity Center (map). Hours: Weekdays, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Note: Only parcels will be picked up from the parcel centers. Regular mail will still be sent to the student's mail box in their respective college.

Your package notification email will include the pickup location. All locations are closed on weekends. Masks are required.

Addressing Packages and Mail

When ordering items or mail to be delivered to you:

  • Use the official UC San Diego mailing address for students:
    • Student Name
      Box #

  • If the address on the vendor's mail, UPS, or FedEx label does not include the 9450 Gilman Street address and box number as shown below, it will most likely be delayed.
  • Make sure everyone who sends you mail has your full name and address, including your mailbox number.
    • Remind friends and family to use your full name (no nicknames) and your correct address when sending you mail. Incorrectly addressed packages will be delayed or returned.
    • Remember to notify contacts, vendors, friends, and family of your address changes.

Sending packages:

  • Packages sent through U.S. Postal Service can be mailed from the Mailing Center.
  • Express Mail must be dropped at the Mailing Center by 2 p.m. to be mailed that day.
  • FedEx and UPS packages must be dropped at the Mailing Center by 3 p.m. to be sent that day.

  • Mail collection times for dark blue U.S. Postal Service boxes are listed on each mailbox.
  • Mail collection times for light blue UCSD Logistics boxes: Weekdays at noon.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are campus mailboxes assigned? Is student mail delivered the same day it is received by Student Mail Services?
  • Yes, student mail is delivered the same day as Logistics receives it from the U.S. Postal Service.
Is junk mail delivered to mailboxes?
  • No, junk mail such as coupons and free samples are not delivered.
How should packages and mail be addressed to the vendor?
  • Make sure you (or your parents) use your full shipping address when ordering from a vendor.
How long can packages be held at the parcel centers?
  • Packages can be held at the parcel centers for 5 business days before the student receives a second alert to pick up their package. If packages are failed to be picked up within the next 3 business days, the packages may be returned to the sender.
What do I need to bring to pick up a package?
  • To pick up your package, please bring your student ID and mailbox number. The mailbox number should be included in the email alert received.
Can a delegate be sent to retrieve a package in the case that I am unable to go myself?
  • If for any reason you are unable to retrieve the package(s) yourself, you may submit a case via the UC San Diego Services and Support Portal and provide the name of the person who will be retrieving your package(s) for you.

How can I ensure safety of my mailbox?

  • For your safety and privacy, be sure to clear your mailbox combination after checking your mailbox by closing the door and spinning the lock to a random number. Do not leave your mailbox unlocked.

How can I report a broken mailbox?

Will mail be forwarded to me after I graduate?

  • Logistics will forward your USPS mail for a maximum of 60 days after spring quarter ends. When you are prepared to forward your mail and no longer receive mail on this campus, email housinginfo@ucsd.edu to request an address change for forwarding. Note: We are only able to forward United States Postal Services (USPS) items within the US. All other carriers (UPS, FedEx, DHL, AMZL, etc... ) must be picked up in person or returned to the sender.

Where can I apply for a passport?

  • One Miramar Street: In the Residential Services Building near mailbox area. Hours: Weekdays, 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.; weekends 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. (map)
  • Rita Atkinson: Front desk resident staff will assist you during their operating hours which may vary. (map)
  • North Torrey Pines Living and Learning Neighborhood: Front desk resident staff will assist you during their operating hours which may vary. (map)
  • Nuevo West/Mesa Nueva: In the Ola Parking Structure. Hours: Weekdays, 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.; weekends 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
