Learn how to use the new TritonGPT Student Planner to help plan your schedule each quarter.

About the new planner tool

  • UC San Diego's new student information system, Triton Student System (TSS), is due to go live in July 2026.

  • The enrollment tools you've previously used (WebReg, the Schedule of Classes, and EASy) will change starting this summer and as a result, the existing class planner tool will no longer be available.

  • The TGPT Planner is a specialized version of TritonGPT that is focused on class scheduling, developed to assist you in planning potential class schedules.

  • TGPT Planner should be ready to use by mid-July.

The TGPT Planner is designed to build a schedule based on classes or specifications that you provide, although it does not have access to program requirements or your individual record, and is not a replacement for academic advising.

What the system is intended to do

  • Search for classes by instructor, room, department, day/time, final exam time, global university requirements (e.g., AHI, Diversity, JTCCE, etc.)
  • Create a schedule using a provided set of mixed parameters
  • Display the schedule in an easy-to-use format, including a visual schedule and calendar exports (such as .gcal and .ical)
  • Display information about waitlists
  • Dynamically build a suggested schedule based on progressive prompting

What the system cannot do

  • Incorporate major or college requirements
  • Provide advising or advice
  • Provide information that is unrelated to the Schedule of Classes
  • Tell you what classes to take
  • Schedule you directly in classes

  • I need to take HUM 2, CHEM 6A, and MATH 10A in Spring 2026. Can you build me a schedule? [Input the classes you need. The tool cannot tell you which classes to take.]
  • Show me a schedule for Fall 2026 that includes PHYS 41, MATH 20B, and PHYS 4A. Export it as a gcal file.
  • What classes is [instructor name] teaching in Fall 2026?
  • What Ethnic Studies classes are offered in FA26?
  • What classes from the DEI list are offered in Fall 26?
  • What upper-division POLI classes are offered in FA26?
  • What remote classes are offered in Political Science in FA26?
  • What classes are offered in Fall 2026 that will fulfill AHI?
  • Who is teaching MATH 20B in Fall 26?
  • Is Prof Smith teaching any physics courses in Fall 26?
  • What MATH 20A sections still have seats available in Fall 26?
  • What do the waitlists look like for MMW 11?

Be sure to include the term you're asking about (Fall 2026, Winter 2027), and avoid prompts that are too vague.

Also, remember that the tool is limited to answering questions about class scheduling. Non-scheduling questions will not get a useful response.
