An impacted major is one that is limiting enrollment.
If you choose an impacted major on your application, you must also select an alternate major. These choices will not affect your overall admission to UC San Diego, and if admitted to the university, you could be admitted into either major or admitted as Undeclared.
Applicants interested in one of these majors should select it on the application; it may not be possible to change to an impacted major as a continuing student. See additional information found in the undergraduate section on the academic department websites.
Note: An impacted major is not the same as a major requiring pre-major status.
