Find campus resources for ESL and international students, as well as for all students who use English as a second language:

OASIS Language Arts Tutorial Services offers free individual tutoring and workshops for writing, foreign languages, and study skills. Workshops are catered specifically toward DOC students as well as students taking Analytical Writing Program courses. Priority is given to Summer Bridge and CASP students, first-generation college students, and students for whom English is not a first language.

The Writing Hub offers free one-on-one consultations, workshops, writing retreats, writers' rooms, and other writing-focused academic support services to all UC San Diego undergraduate and graduate students, including students who have English as an additional language. Drop into the Geisel Library location for help, or visit WCOnline to make an appointment with one of our writing consultants.

UC San Diego Extended Studies offers two different programs for English language learners. Tuition is charged for these courses:

ESL Credit courses are standalone classes that you can take one at a time. ESL Credit courses are designed for international graduate students and other academics, as well as for working professionals.

English Language Institute teaches English to students from beginning to advanced levels. The Institute offers short-term and long-term programs.

American English in Action is a free program designed for international students and spouses that provides tutoring in conversational English, helping you to improve your English fluency.

The Linguistics Language Laboratory in AP&M, Room 3432A (map), (858) 534-2418, has a few self-instructed courses and other materials available for ESL (English as a Second Language) students.
