If you want to book in a class that is full, you can put yourself on a waitlist.
About waitlisted classes
New information about waitlists and changes to the waitlist process with the new Triton Student System (TSS):
- In TSS, waitlist requests run continuously, instead of just once a day. As soon as a seat becomes available in a course in TSS, the first student on the waitlist is immediately booked to the course in real time — there's no need to keep checking back.
- The status on your Student Overview Homepage will change from waitlisted (shown as Booked on Waitlist) to Booked once you're in.
- Be careful when dropping a course! If you drop a course and the course has a waitlist, you'll need to join the waitlist and wait for your turn to be re-booked to the course.
- While you're on the waitlist, you have the same options as a booked student:
- Drop — removes you from the waitlist
- View more information and instructions on waitlisting.
Waitlist timing
- Waitlisting is not available during the first-pass booking window to encourage students to book in required courses.
- Classes can be waitlisted until 11:59:59 p.m. on Friday of the 2nd full week of classes. See deadlines for the academic year.
- As of the second-pass booking window you can be booked in and waitlisted for a total of 19.5 units.
- After the quarter begins, you can be booked in and waitlisted for a total of 22 units.
- If you don't meet class requirements when you attempt to move from the waitlist into the class, you will not be booked to the class.
- The last run of the auto waitlist program is Friday of the second full week of classes at 11:59:59 p.m.
- Note that being on a waitlist is not a guarantee that you will be booked into that class. In many cases, a student already booked in the class will need to drop it in order for students on the waitlist to move up and into the class as space allows.
If the class or section you want is full
- TSS will offer you the option of booking in another open section of that class, or waitlisting the section.
- You can only waitlist for one section of a course.
- You can't be simultaneously booked and waitlisted in different sections of a course.
Note: Classes you have waitlisted will display in TSS.
If you change your mind and you want to book or waitlist a different section of a class for which you are already booked
- You can't be simultaneously booked and waitlisted in different sections of a course.
If you want to find out if you were placed into a section from the waitlist
If you're booked in a waitlisted class, it will be included on My Schedule in TSS. Select it from the list of classes in My Schedule and confirm your grading option.
